Abstract

Neren Watotena Beach located in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province is one of the natural tourism potentials that is quite interesting for its beauty. The tourist attraction managed by the Bedalewun Village Government has several obstacles, such as the development of visitors to Neren Watotena Beach rarely increases. The study discusses how the development strategy of Neren Watotena beach in increasing tourist visits. To support the research, the author uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The research informants were 4 people, namely the Secretary of Bedalewun Village, the Bedalewun Youth Organization, tourism experts and visitors to Neren Watetena Beach. The focus of this research is on development strategies, especially Neren Watotena Beach by using SWOT analysis as the main instrument to obtain strategies for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats needed in the coastal development process. Data collection techniques with observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study show that the tourism sector needs a strategy with a planned and structured tourism development pattern so that its potential can be developed optimally. In advancing the tourism sector at the regional level, village governments and tourism awareness groups are the driving force in determining development strategies for Neren Watotena Beach. This is because there are still limited supporting facilities at Neren Watotena Beach tourism, there is still a lack of maintenance of tourist facilities and there is still a lack of participation from the community in the tourism sector.
