Abstract

Penggunaan energi berbahan fosil di Indonesia memiliki banyak dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan sehingga dapat mendorong pencarian alternatif, seperti pemanfaatan limbah pertanian menjadi bahan baku briket arang yang ramah lingkungan. Pembuatan briket secara manual kurang efisien, sehingga penggunaan mesin otomatis menggunakan sistem screw conveyor menjadi solusi yang lebih baik dalam meningkatkan kuantitas dan kualitas produksi. Penelitian ini menguji pembuatan briket arang menggunakan mesin press sistem screw dari limbah tempurung kelapa, sekam padi, dan serbuk kayu dengan variasi komposisi bahan dasar. Untuk variasi komposisi yaitu 70%, 80%, dan 90% pada tiap variasi bahan dasar. Setelah melakukan pengujian eksperimen dengan variasi yang sudah ditentukan dan diperoleh data perhitungan, maka dapat disimpulkan pada variasi komposisi bahan dasar dari arang tempurung kelapa, serbuk kayu dan sekam padi menghasilkan briket berkualitas dengan nilai kalor tinggi. Untuk variasi terbaik pada bahan dasar arang tempurung kelapa dengan komposisi arang sebanyak 90% dengan nilai kalor 7671,73296 kal/gr, dengan lama waktu pembakaran briket sampai menjadi abu selama 184,45 menit serta munculnya gelembung air pada saat proses mendidihkan air di waktu ke 55,07 menit dengan suhu air yang mampu dicapai sebesar 97,5 °C.
