Abstract
Surabaya kota pahlawan merupakan ibu kota Provinsi Jawa Timur adalah tempat penghasil sampah terbesar kedua di Indonesia. Menurut data SIPSN menunjukan Kota Surabaya menghasilkan timbunan sampah plastik sebesar 811.255,10 ton/tahun sedangkan jumlah sampah yang tidak terkelola 28.578,82 ton/tahun. Maka mendaur ulang limbah sampah plastik merupakan salah satu solusi untuk mengurangi penumpukan limbah sampah di Kota Surabaya. Dengan memanfaatkan limbah sampah plastik mempunyai peluang besar untuk dijadikan sebuah material baru yang dapat menghasilkan harga yang terjangkau, ringan, dan tidak mudah berkorosi. Material komposit menjadi bahan pengganti material logam konvensional seperti baja ringan, aluminium, stainliss steel dan aneka macam produk lain yang dikembangkan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi fraksi berat partikel penguat termoset, mengetahui kekuatan mekanis dan analisis morfologi. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode mesin mixer peleleh plastik. Untuk pembuatan komposit menggunakan variasi 8%, 10%, 12%, 14%, 16% dan HDPE murni. Kemudian dilakukan pengujian Tarik menggunakan standart ASTM D-638 type III dan pengujian impact menggunakan standart D-256. Penelitian ini mendapatkan nilai pengujian tarik terbaik tegangan maksimum rata-rata 21,21 Mpa pada variasi HDPE murni. Serta pengujian tarik nilai kekuatan terendah terdapat pada variasi 8% tegangan maksimum rata- rata 4,21 MPa. Dari hasil tersebut dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa semakin banyak jumlah partikel yang diberikan maka semakin memperlemah komposit tersebut dan semakin sedikit penguat kekuatan semakin kuat. Karena matrik limbah hdpe tidak sempurna mengikat limbah sampah termoset. Pada pengujian impak mendapatkan hasil paling baik yaitu variasi matrix murni HDPE dengan hasil nilai rata-rata 20,547 joule. Sedangkan nilai impak terendah pada variasi 16%, dengan hasil nilai rata-rata 0,910 Joule. Pada variasi penguat termoset 16% kurangnya sempurna matrix dalam mengikat jumlah partikel sehingga ketika terkena beban kejut maka akan getas. matrix dan filer tidak mampu menahan energi yang besar.
