Abstract

Altruism in adolescents is an aspect that can improve subjective well-being and psychological well-being. This study aims to determine the relationship between social responsibility, empathy, and altruism in adolescents. The subjects of this study were 185 students from SMA and SMK Al-Irsyad Surabaya. Research data was taken using a scale of social responsibility (α=0.934), empathy (α=0.945), and altruistic (α=0.922). The results of data analysis using multiple regression show that simultaneously social responsibility has a negative effect on altruism, while empathy has a positive effect on altruism. Partially the social responsibility variable has a significant negative effect on altruism, while empathy has a significant positive effect on altruism. The results of this study imply that a high attitude of social responsibility in adolescents will reduce altruistic attitudes towards them, and vice versa. While the attitude of empathy will be directly proportional to the altruistic attitude in adolescents.
