Abstract

The Israeli and Palestinian conflict has been going on for more than 70 decades. The tension of the conflict resulted in the suppression of individual rights and violations of international law in the form of war crimes committed by Israel in Palestine. Israel's war crimes are reported by international media including Al Jazeera and CNN World which have different backgrounds and cultures. This research aims to discover the differences in framing between Al Jazeera and CNN World media. The study analyzed 3 reports among 7 forms of Israeli war crimes on Al Jazeera and CNN World media. The research method is descriptive qualitative with Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model. The research results show differences in the framing of the two media based on their respective ideologies and interests. Al Jazeera media frames its reporting with a construction of reality that corners Israel, meanwhile, CNN World media frames the news with a construction of reality that tends to be neutral and side with Israel. Recommendations for further research are to conduct other studies or similar ones with the research, related to the international conflict between Israel and Palestine as well as the controversy and conspiracy behind the two media: Al Jazeera and CNN World.
