Abstract

The tourism sector can help growth and boost the economic sector. The economy will develop due to the large number of tourists. East Java offers many extraordinary natural and cultural tourism opportunities. The success of the promotion carried out by DISBUDPAR East Java is determined by the number of tourist visitors received. Therefore, the promotion strategy is very important to introduce East Java tourist attractions so that tourists visit these attractions. The focus of the research is to find out: 1) Which promotion strategy is used by the East Java Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism for the beauty pageant; 2) What are the factors that support the Department of Culture and Tourism in promoting tourism in East Java through the beauty pageant program; and 3) What are the factors that hinder the East Java Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism in promoting tourism in East Java through the Beauty pageant program. This study conducts qualitative research. Data is collected through documentation, interviews, and observations. The analysis used is descriptive. Data testers test source triangulation. The results of the research show 1) that the activities of the tourism promotion mix of East Java DISBUDPAR can significantly increase tourist visits. This activity includes A. Advertising (advertising) such as advertisements on television, radio, posters, and billboards; B. Sales Promotion using tourism exhibition media; C. Personal selling (personal selling) through travel mart; D. public relations (public relations) in publication programs and events that cooperate with others; and E. Direct marketing (direct marketing) through family trips and marketing through online channels. 2) Factors that support tourism promotion in East Java are art and cultural diversity, local government support, SKPD cooperation, and information technology advances. 3) Factors that hinder the promotion of tourism in East Java are the lack of government budget for tourism development, lack of community involvement in tourism development, as well as the lack of foreign-speaking workers.
