Abstract

Indonesia is known for its diversity of ethnicities and cultures, which creates a wide variety of languages, customs, and traditional games. However, traditional games are now being replaced by modern games and gadgets that are more appealing to the millennial generation. This phenomenon inspired Kampung Lali Gadget (KLG), which aims to reduce children's dependence on gadgets by reintroducing traditional games through social media, especially Instagram. This study aims to explore the communication strategies used by KLG in their Instagram content to attract children's interest in traditional games and invite them to play at KLG. The focus of this study is the communication strategies on the Instagram account @kampunglaligadget. The research approach used is descriptive qualitative, examining KLG's communication strategies in depth, including understanding the audience, crafting messages, setting methods, providing informative, persuasive, and educational content, media selection, and addressing challenges and solutions. Data for this study were obtained through in-depth interviews with the founder and social media team of KLG, as well as analyzing several Instagram posts from @kampunglaligadget based on predetermined indicators. The diffusion of innovations theory is used to support the main theory of communication strategies, with data from the diffusion of innovations theory serving as evidence of KLG's successful communication strategies in reintroducing traditional games. The results of the study indicate that KLG's effective communication strategy in conveying messages to parents and children involves using content that is informative, persuasive, and educational, such as personal or nostalgic content and collaborations with other Instagram users to broaden their reach. KLG also faces several challenges, such as a shortage of social media team members and restrictions on recording children. However, KLG's continuous evaluation allows for ongoing improvement of their communication strategies.
