Abstract

“Bombshell 2019” is a story that is reconstructed from the reality that happened, thus producing a story like the real one on the largest media network in the United States, Fox News. Departing from the social phenomenon of sexual harassment that often occurs in female journalists, this film clearly shows how women's struggle to voice their rights to injustice in order to fight objectification of women. The topic of women's struggle attracts the attention of researchers to provide information to the public about the existence of gender biased behavior through this film, and to help realize the presence of women in society. This research uses a qualitative approach with Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis technique which based on her concept is divided into 3 positions, namely the position of the subject, the position of the object, and the position of the reader. This research data was collected through documentation and observation with the research subject being the Bombshell 2019 film. The results of this study show that women occupy the position of subjects represented as oppressed people who seek justice. Then the position of the object reveals how men show their alignment with the culture of sexism and misogyny. And finally, the reader's position is used to see the struggle of female journalists in dismantling patriarchal crimes in the social order that considers women as objects in the Bombshell 2019 film.
