Abstract

As one of the materials often used in a construction, concrete is still the main choice until now to use, as a result, the use of cement products as one of the main ingredients continues to increase so that the exploitation of the main raw material for cement, namely limestone from nature, is increasing sharply making damage to the limestone ecosystem inevitable, also bad for the environment because in the production process it produces high enough carbon dioxide. Innovations continue to be made in order to reduce the massive use of cement, namely by replacing part of the cement using materials that resemble it, such as fly ash which has a high content of silica and iron oxide which already resembles part of the cement element. Silica as the most sought after material for concrete mixtures is also available in fly ash so that the use of fly ash can be considered, but in its use fly ash has a weakness in low early age, so in this study, the addition of bending wire as much as 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9% will be carried out with the aim of increasing the strength of concrete in the early age where the method to be used for calculation is the DOE (Department Of Environment) method. From the results of this study, it was found that at the age of 7 days, the results of concrete with fly ash substitution (F20/B0) experienced a significant increase worth 15.71 Mpa higher than concrete with a mixture of bending wire sequentially which only got 14.7 Mpa, 14.14 Mpa and 13.31 Mpa. While at 28 days the concrete with additional 3% bending wire (F20/B3) obtained strength up to 25.88 Mpa much higher than the variation without and with bending wire. This makes a mixture of bending wire as much as 3% with fly ash substitution into the optimal mixture to be used from the results of the current study.
