Abstract

Eksistensi komponen kampas rem sangat penting di suatu kendaraan, terutama pada kendaraan bermotor. Beberapa kecelakaan terjadi biasanya ditimbulkan sebab sistem rem yang tidak berfungsi sesuai dengan seharusnya. Beberapa kendala sistem rem umumnya ditimbulkan sebab adanya keausan pada cakram serta kampas rem akibat gesekan yang terjadi terus menerus, semakin tinggi laju kendaraan akan semakin fatal keurasakan yang terjadi apabila sistem pengereman tidak berfungsi dengan baik. Penelitian ini mengguankan metode metalurgi serbuk yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui nilai pengaruh variasi komposisi terhadap nilai kekerasan dan nilai keausan serta untuk mengetahui nilai pengaruh komposisi bahan kampas rem pembanding merek Kmp. Bahan yang digunakan adalah material komposit ramah lingkungan dengan beberapa variasi komposisi material yaitu, Serbuk Kayu Mahoni (SKM), Serbuk Kuningan (Kn), Magnesium Oxside, Resin Polyester dengan katalis sebagai penguat dan pengering dengan variasi paduan yaitu SKM/Kn 1 /4, 2 /4, 3 /4, 4 /4 + 2gr Magnesium Oxide + 2ml Resin Polyester dan Kn/SKM 1 /4, 2 /4, 3 /4, 4 /4 + 2gr Magnesium Oxide + 2ml Resin Polyester yang akan diberikan kompaksi 3000psi, 3200psi, dan 3400psi selama 20 menit dengan temperatur suhu sintering sebesar 150C dengan waktu 15 menit. Proses pengujian nilai kekerasan yang paling mendekati kampas rem Kmp dengan kekerasan 75kgf/n dan spesimen 1 /4 Skm/Kn dengan kompaksi 3400, didapatkan nilai kekerasan 74,3kgf/n dan 4 /4 Kn/Skm dengan kompaksi 3000, didapatkan nilai kekerasan 74,3kgf/n. Nilai keausan yang paling mendekati dengan kampas rem merek Kmp adalah pada spesimen 1 /4 Skm/Kn dengan kompaksi 3200 dengan nilai keausan 797 mm2 dan 4 /4 Kn/Skm dengan kompaksi 3000 mendapatkan nilai keausan 760 mm2/kg. Kata kunci : Kampas Rem, Keausan, Kekerasan, Kuningan, Serbuk Kayu Mahoni.
