Abstract

The design model for making sofas by looking at the market value of customer demand, which is increasingly a variety of designs, attractive colors and various sizes, makes the competitiveness of the sofa making industry even higher. The value of a sofa product regarding its main function is that by adding value without eliminating the main function of the sofa product, it aims to achieve the main function required, by identifying costs and analyzing the function of added value to achieve the main function. Understanding the main function of a sofa to think about the performance of making a sofa without losing the main function of a sofa product, there are three main components in making a sofa, namely wood, sponge/foam, and leather. There is waste in the production process due to losses such as the raw materials for making sofas being much greater than customer demand, sometimes workers or employees make mistakes in the process of making and repairing sofas which results in low customer satisfaction with the quality of sofa products, and price submissions that make customers doubt the offer. the price, then the owner of the sofa UMKM offers the customer to service the sofa to another sofa UMKM to compare the price whether it is lower or higher. The application of value addition and value engineering can be in the form of improving the production process, using more efficient raw materials, performing sofa models, and efficient production process times. The results of the application of value added and value engineering that have been carried out and applied to sofa products, resulted in a planned cost budget of IDR 11,030,000 for the initial sofa product, the sofa product resulting from a planned cost budget of IDR 11,099,000.
