Abstract

Bangkalan Regency has considerable mining mineral potential, one of which is the potential for carbonate-based mining minerals, namely limestone, calcite mineral limestone, and dolomite. Based on data from ESDM (Energy and Mineral Resources) East Java, Bangkalan Regency has limestone reserves of approximately 145 billion tonnes. This makes the surrounding community utilise it for various purposes both as free mining and utilising it for use as building construction material. In addition, limestone is also used by local residents as bricks, coarse aggregate for concrete, lime for road layers and sometimes sold to other areas. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using limestone in the Bangkalan Madura area used as a substitute for coarse aggregate in concrete mixes on concrete characteristics. This research uses the percentage of limestone replacement as much as 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the use of coarse aggregate. From the results of the study, it was found that the slump value at a percentage of 0% to 25% increased then decreased at a percentage of 50% and rose periodically at a percentage of 75% to 100% with the optimal slump value obtained at a percentage of 25% of 10cm and a minimum slump value of 8.6cm at a percentage of 50%. The specific gravity results obtained in this study have increased and decreased but still meet the unit weight requirements according to SNI-03-2847-2002. The concrete absorption test shows that the concrete absorption value at a proportion of 100% limestone addition is smaller than the proportion of 0%. From the average compressive strength graph, the minimum compressive strength is 14.98 Mpa at 100% percentage and the maximum at 50% percentage is 19.23 Mpa.
