Abstract

The construction industry is continually seeking environmentally friendly alternatives in concrete production. One intriguing potential option is blood clamshell ash. Flowing concrete was chosen for this study due to its high workability, easing the compaction process. This research utilizes blood clamshell ash as a partial substitute for cement due to its promising content. Blood clamshell ash is rich in calcium carbonate, approximately 98.18%, which enhances the compressive strength offlowing concrete. The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of blood clamshell ash on the slump flow, density, water absorption, and compressive strength of flowing concrete with varying percentages of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%, with the addition of 1.5% superplasticizer: Additionally, the optimal percentage variation for SCC production is investigated. Testing is conducted using the Design of Experiment (DOE) method in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 03-2847-2000 on "Procedure for Making Normal Concrete Mix Designs" and employing hypothesis testing techniques through ANOVA. The test results indicate that the highest slump flow value is achieved with 0% blood clamshell ash (normal concrete) at 58.33 cm, while the lowest value is recorded for the 10% blood clamshell ash mixture at 55.50 cm. The highest wet concrete density occurs in the 7.5% blood clamshell ash mixture at 2463.75 Kg/m', whereas the highest dry concrete density is observed in the 0% blood clamshell ash mixture at 2444.05 Kg/m'. The highest water absorption of SCC is found in the 0% blood clamshell ash mixture at 4.71%. The highest compressive strength is attained in the 7.5% blood clamshell ash mixture at 30.97 MPa. Based on the average compressive strength results, the optimal value occurs with a 7.5% variation, deemed significant for the SCC mixture.
