Abstract

The city of Surabaya is the capital of East Java Province, which is one of the metropolitan cities with the largest population in Indonesia, so traffic jams often occur. One of them is traffic jams at the intersection between Jalan Raya Manyar Kertoarjo - Jalan Raya Kertajaya - Jalan Raya Menur, Surabaya City. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out an analysis regarding this intersection in order to determine the feasibility of a signalized intersection using the Indonesian Road Capacity Manual method (MKJI 1997). This research was carried out for a week with three peak hour phases per day (morning, afternoon and evening). From the results of the research conducted, it shows that the highest traffic flow volume value is found on Monday afternoon peak hours with a value of 4808 pc/hour, consisting of a traffic volume value for the north approach (U) of 942 pcu/hour, the south approach (S) of 942 pchour. 767 pc/hour, east left turn sub-approach second signal phase (T-LT 1) at 185 pcuhour, east left turn sub-approach third signal phase (T-LT 2) at 146 pc/hour, sub-approach straight east (T-ST) at 1208 pchour, east right turn sub-approach (T-RT) at 251 powhour, straight west sub-approach (B-ST) at 1105 pchour, and sub-approach turn right west (B-RT) at 204 pchour. Meanwhile, the highest degree of saturation (DS) value was 0.95 at the afternoon peak hour on Monday. This shows that the intersection performance is classified as poor because the degree of saturation (DS) value exceeds 0.75.
