Abstract

The existence of the internet now makes teenagers get and find media that can fulfill their daily needs. Starting from the need to find relationships or friendships, access various information, fulfill entertainment needs, to the emergence of various activities that can make money for teenagers. The media in question can fulfill almost all the needs of teenagers, namely social media. The various kinds of content on social media make teenagers who actively use social media experience low self-acceptance. This research aims to see whether there is a relationship between body image and self-acceptance among teenagers who are active social media users. The population in this study were 332 students in grades 10, 11 and 12 of SMA 17 August 1945 Surabaya, while the sample used as research respondents was 181 students using purposive sampling techniques. The results of data analysis using the Spearman Rho technique in this study showed a p value of: 0.384 with a significance of 0.001 (p<0.05), which means there is a significant positive correlation between Body Image and self-acceptance. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research shows that there is a significant positive relationship between Body Image and Self-Acceptance of Adolescents who are Active Social Media Users
