Abstract
Material Al 6061 is a medium-carbon steel commonly found in automotive parts. This aluminum alloy possesses good casting properties, is lightweight, and resistant to corrosion, making it widely used in automotive components such as motorcycle parts. Over time, components may experience failures. To enhance and improve the quality of these products, a T6 heat treatment is performed. The purpose of the T6 heat treatment is to strengthen the hardness of the Al 6061 alloy, and microstructure tests are also conducted. The T6 heat treatment consists of stages: heat treatment, quenching, and artificial aging. These processes interact to determine the final mechanical properties achieved. The variables used are temperature and cooling. Temperatures used include 185℃, 215℃, and 245℃, with a holding time of 6 hours, and cooling is done using water, solar, and SAE 40 oil as media. The objective of these tests is to obtain improvements in hardness and microstructure properties in aluminum 6061.The results of the hardness testing that were carried out obtained the highest hardness value of 52.43 HRB at an aging heat treatment of 185℃ with diesel cooling media. The lowest hardness value was obtained at 13.73 HRB at an aging temperature of 245℃ with oil cooling
