Abstract

Sexual harassment and violence cases continue to increase each year. Women and children are often the victims, while the stigma that men are a strong group makes people think that men cannot be victims of sexual harassment and violence. The media, as information gatekeepers, have a vital role to play in changing public perception of violence and sexual harassment against men. This study aims to analyze the framing of the sexual harassment case of Pradikta Wicksono in the media Tribunnews.com and Konde.co in January 2023 and compare the results of the framing of both media. In this study, the theory of social reality construction by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann is used to understand how the two media form the reality related to cases of sexual harassment that occur in men, while the framing analysis method by Zhongdang Pan and Kosicki is used to analyze news from Tribunnews.com and Konde.co. The results of the analysis showed significant differences in framing between the two media, where Tribunnews.com focused on the personalization of the victim and the search for "clicks", while Konde.co focused on rejecting the normalization of the issue of sexual harassment in the music industry and providing support for the victim. Finally, the recommendations of this study are the exploration of cases of sexual harassment experienced by men, increasing sensitivity to the issue of sexual harassment experienced by men, and the development of policies and the establishment of institutions that oversee cases of sexual harassment of male gender.
