Abstract

DOC chickens must maintain their body temperature and are very vulnerable to their growth, the chicken will become stressed and this will result in a decrease in feed consumption which will result in a decrease in the activity of the chicken. raising chickens during the boarding period, namely 0-12 days of age. This temperature requirement can be met by using a chicken coop heating device using a heater. The current problem is that the heating system used by farmers still focuses on the temperature produced but does not yet consider the amount of fuel consumption required, so it is necessary to design and test the chicken heating system. Based on the problems above, the aim of this research is to design and build a broiler chicken rearing system in the form of a chicken coop heating device using a heater. The research method used is an experimental method by designing a heating device, which begins with performance testing of a heating system using electrical energy (heater). The treatment that was tested was by applying it to a chicken coop with a cage size of 2m x 2m x 1m for 12 days with a resulting temperature of 28°C - 33°C. From the analysis results, it can be concluded that the use of heating equipment for chicken coops using a heater greatly influences the weight gain of chicks, as well as the feed consumption coefficient for chicks compared to using traditional heating equipment. It can be seen that the greatest weight gain is in 40 birds and at a temperature of 28°C amounting to 272.5 – 302.5 g with an average of 281.28 g per head. Chickens kept in numbers of 40 at a temperature of 28˚C with a chicken coop heater had a higher average weight gain compared to with other chickens. for the total amount of chick feed, with variations for the same boarding period using a heating device, with a variation of 40 birds = 13.1 kg, 50 birds = 19.5 kg, 60 birds 21.3 kg, with a variation of 40 birds = 16.9 kg, 50 heads = 20.4 kg, 60 heads = 21.3 kg average feed consumption.
