Abstract

This study was researched by scientists to reduce road damage by improving the quality of roads. Roads are infrastructure that connects between one point and another that is intended for road transport including road sections and road supplementary buildings for traffic. Generally, there are 2 types of road pavement structures in Indonesia, namely rigid or rigid pavement with concrete as the main material, then flexible pavement with the main material being asphalt concrete or Asphalt concrete. Bitumen is generally made from the petroleum refining process, but the longer the availability of petroleum will deplete and become more expensive. To improve the quality of the asphalt, it is necessary to add other additives and in this study we twed to mix asphalt with latex (rubber sap). Asphalt is a major ingredient in road pavement. There are several types of asphalt, namely natural asphalı, hard asphalt, liquid asphalt, and modified asphalt. One type of modified asphalt that is later expected to improve the service performance of such road pavement Polymer modified asphalt has been believed to provide better performance, if the selection of the type of modified asphalt suitable for site conditions, traffic loads and the environment is suitable. Stone Mastic Asphalt (SMA) mixture with PG-70 asphalt as an adhesives without additives has a degree of durability (durability) and resistance to permanent deformation that meets the requirements of SNI 8129:2015 although the modulus modulus of resilient SMA mixture without additives is the lowest compared to the other two SMA mixture variations. By using modified polymer asphalt (PG70) in the pavement mixture, it can be the pavement of the asphalt shaft road so that it quickly flows air down and reduces noise.
