Abstract
The investigation process carried out by the police is often accompanied by violence, so this requires clarity of legal accountability. The aim of this research is to find out and explain the accountability of investigators who commit acts of violence in the investigation process and to find out and explain the forms of legal protection for suspects' rights in the investigation process. The research developed uses normative legal research by answering legal questions through legal rules, legal principles and legal doctrine so as to produce definite answers for each topic discussed. The results show that the accountability of police investigators who commit acts of violence during the investigation process has not been carried out as it should be due to a lack of supervision from the National Police's Propam division and also a lack of information regarding data. Legal liability is regulated in Article 351 of the Criminal Code, with criminal sanctions in the form of imprisonment for 2 years and 8 months and if the injury is serious, you can be sentenced to a maximum of 5 years. Apart from criminal sanctions, sanctions for violations of the code of ethics can also be imposed in the form of written warnings, transfers, PTDH (dishonorable dismissal). The form of legal protection for the rights of suspects who are victims during the investigation stage is by not committing arbitrary actions, namely violence, and must protect their human rights.
