Abstract

As a country with a tropical climate, Indonesia has several impacts on the environment and people's lives. This makes the use of cooling machines very important in Indonesia, especially in densely populated urban areas. So the researchers will design an R-22 split AC cooling machine and analyze the effect of expansion valve type and condenser fan speed on the characteristics and performance of the cooling machine with the aim of getting the best variation. The methods in this research include building a cooling machine, data collection and analysis. The variation used is a capillary pipe type expansion valve with a length of 0.5 m; 1 m; 1.5 m and TXV (Thermostatic Expansion Valve) type and condenser fan speed variation of 2.2 m/s; 4.1m/s; 6.1m/s. The results of the analysis concluded that the variation using a capillary pipe expansion valve with a length of 0.5 meters and a condenser fan speed of 6.1 m/s produced a refrigerant mass flow rate value that was greater than the other variations, namely 0,026 kg/s, and produced actual COP. larger, namely 6,4. This is because the greater the air flow rate to cool the condenser at a fan speed variation of 6.1 m/s, the less power the compressor consumes. Meanwhile, in COPactual and mass flow rate of refrigerant there is an increase in the speed of the condenser cooling fan which is getting bigger.
