Abstract

Speed bump is a safety device used to reduce vehicle speed. However, if in practice the speed bump installed does not meet the applicable standards in Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation and Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number 14 of 2021, this will cause accidents that can be detrimental to road users. Accidents caused by speed bumps are an important issue, because they occur on residential roads. The aim of this research is to determine legal liability in the event of an accident caused by a speed bump and legal protection for victims of accidents caused by a speed bump. The method used in the research is normative legal research using a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The results of this research are that in terms of legal liability, if an accident occurs caused by a speed bump that complies with the applicable rules and standards, the Transportation Service can be held responsible for the accident that occurs, then legal protection for victims of accidents caused by speed bumps, the victim has the right to receive help and treatment. , and compensation from the Transportation Department.
