Abstract

The hoarding of cooking oil that has occurred in the community has resulted in cooking oil becoming scarce, resulting in the mixing of cooking oil. As a result of mixing cooking oil, consumers are disadvantaged in terms of price and quality of cooking oil which affects the health of consumers, in this case mixing cooking oil can be handled using Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. Legal protection for consumers can use preventive legal protection in Article 29 as prevention in the form of guidance and supervision carried out by the government that guarantees the rights of consumers and business actors, while repressive legal protection in Article 45 with the implementation of protection for consumers by resolving disputes for every consumer who Aggrieved can be through court or out of court based on the choice of the parties. This study aims to examine legal protection for consumers and sanctions arising from mixing cooking oil. This research was conducted using normative legal research methods. A research approach is a statute approach and a conceptual approach. The happening events show that there are consumer rights that are being violated as a result of the mixing of cooking oil, as well as the government's efforts to protect consumers from losses in any form. The threat of punishment for the perpetrators of mixing cooking oil according to Article 378 of the Criminal Code concerning Fraud.
