Abstract

Catfish is one of the fishery products that is very popular with people in Indonesia. Tilapia is an alternative to animal protein consumed by various groups of people. This study aims to determine the feasibility of cultivating tilapia using earthen pond media from technical and marketing aspects, and to find out whether tilapia aquaculture using soil pond media is feasible/not cultivated based on financial aspect criteria. This research was conducted in Semampir Village, Sedati District, Sidoarjo Regency from April to May 2023. The method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The results of this study from the technical aspects of the catfish farming process were carried out in several stages. The first stage carried out is the stage of preparing the pond to be used as a place for catfish seeds, followed by filling water, spreading the seeds, to the harvesting process. Marketing aspects consisting of demand and supply, pricing, and marketing channels. The demand for catfish is quite high, some consumers come directly to the catfish farming business to buy prepared fish. The price for catfish is in accordance with the costs incurred by the owner of the catfish farming business, which is IDR 19,000/kg. The marketing channel in this business only passes through one hand, namely from cultivators directly to consumers. Meanwhile, from the financial aspect in this business, the required amount of capital is an average of Rp. 13,730,000, the average cost incurred is Rp. 13,730,000/year, the average total income is Rp. 38,000,000, the average profit earned is IDR 24,271,800. Thus it can be concluded that catfish farming is feasible to run. Keywords: price, income and demand
