Abstract

The increase in the number of people living in Indonesia every year is directly proportional to the increase in the use of motorized vehicles in Indonesia. Low engine performance efficiency in combustion engines causes inefficient use of fuel in motorized vehicles, which in turn causes wasteful use of fuel. The research was conducted using a single-cylinder four-stroke motorcycle 149.17 cc in standard conditions, which was then tested with standard pistons, 0.25mm oversize, 0.5mm oversize, and using three different fuels, namely pertalite, Pertamax, and shell v�power. From the results of the tests that have been carried out, pertalite fuel consumption has continued to increase consistently from 14.8 to 17.3 and finally on the piston os 0.5 to 18. The difference at 3000 - 6000 rpm shows a consistent increase in power while at increase in consumption under standard conditions to change the piston os 0.25 and 0.5 experience the same level of consumption. At 7000 and 8000 rpm showed a decrease in fuel consumption at 0.50 mm piston change. while at 9000 and 10000 rpm there is a consistent increase in power and fuel consumption. Meanwhile, Pertamax fuel consumption occurs at the lowest value at standard conditions of 14.2 ml while at the highest level with an oversized piston of 0.50 mm with 16.2 ml. This shows that the use of modifications with high compression ratios at high octane numbers will maximize vehicle power. While V-Power fuel consumption occurs at low consumption, the increase in engine performance that occurs is still high. In standard conditions, the lowest average fuel consumption was obtained when using v-power fuel with an average value of 30ml, fuel consumption in 0.25mm oversized conditions, the lowest average was obtained when using v-power fuel with a value an average of 31.77 ml, fuel consumption in oversized conditions of 0.50mm the lowest average is obtained when using v-power fuel with an average value of 32.17 ml. The test results show that the wider the diameter of the piston, the greater the power generated, this happens because the volume of the fuel mixture is compressed more, the highest power is also affected by fuel that has a high octane rating, so that the combustion results that occur become more perfect and ideal. The conclusion from the test results is that the octane value, and LHV affect the combustion results that occur in each fuel phase, and the higher the octane value, the higher the average power produced.
