Abstract
The terminal has become the most popular mode of ground transportation among the public, and one of them is Purabaya Terminal. Purabaya Terminal is a Type A terminal located in Waru District, Sidoarjo Regency. As a national service scope terminal, Purabaya Terminal has deficiencies in several aspects that make users feel uncomfortable inside the terminal. The issues in this terminal include vehicle circulation, user circulation patterns, spatial function arrangement, high carbon emissions, waiting and resting facilities, as well as the building design that lacks modernization. Based on these identified issues, comparative studies, case studies, and thematic studies were conducted to find suitable solutions. The solution found to address these problems is to redesign the terminal, particularly in terms of circulation patterns and building design. The circulation arrangement will follow the existing transportation modes in the terminal while considering the effectiveness of user flow. This change in pattern also transforms the building design. By applying the principles of biomimicry architecture, the concept of site, building, and interior space can be developed in an environmentally friendly manner, inspired by how nature works. As a result, a newly designed Purabaya Terminal will be more organized, integrated, and environmentally friendly. Keywords: Purabaya Terminal, Redesign, Circulation, Biomimicry
