Abstract
This study aims to determine the validity of Belis Marriage in the perspective of Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning Amendments to Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage and the legal consequences of marriage for parties who are married using belis. The method used is Normative Juridical. The results of the research are that marriage for the Custom of Benteng Tado is carried out between men and women with the same religion as the implementation of marriage according to their customs, so that the marriage is considered valid. If the man has handed over the belis witnessed by a traditional leader, the marriage is considered valid. as a result of the traditional marriage law of the Benteng Tado tribe by using belis, namely the obligation of the man to provide a living, if the husband dies the inheritance is given by the wife and children, the property belongs to the woman not including joint property.
