Abstract

Games are electronic entertainment that is not unfamiliar in Indonesian society and designed in 2D and 3D formats, which can serve as a more interactive means of conveying information or as an alternative form of entertainment for all age groups. Side-scrolling ARPG is a type of action game with a one-way perspective that incorporates elements of art, role�playing, and storytelling, aiming to make players take on the role of the main character in the story. Considering the lack of interest among the younger generation in Indonesia towards their own culture, there is a need for media that is popular among the youth and can also provide information about Indonesian culture. In this research, the topic addressed is the development of a 2.5D side-scrolling ARPG game using Unreal Engine 5 and employing the MDA framework as the game development method. The game was successfully developed, and with the creation of this game, the author hopes that the younger generation can become familiar with this Indonesian fiction work. There are two forms of testing: Black box testing, which aims to test the input and output conditions of the game, and playtesting, which evaluates the level of enjoyment based on the MDA method. The average score obtained from 32 respondents who played the game in the playtesting phase was 78%, despite the game still having several existing shortcomings.
