Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing and proving whether the price of broiler chickens, household income, number of family members and tastes affect the demand for broiler chickens in households in Babatan Village simultaneously and partially. The type of data used is quantitative data. Sources of data for this study included primary data obtained from distributing questionnaires to housewives in Babatan Village and secondary data obtained from Babatan Village. The variables of this study consisted of broiler price (X1), household income (X2), number of family members (X3), and tastes (X4) as independent variables and broiler demand (Y) as the dependent variable. The analysis in this study used quantitative associative analysis using multiple linear regression analysis and testing the hypothesis using the SPSS for Windows Version 27.0 program. Sampling was by using purposive sampling based on Roscow, the sample taken was 50 respondents. Based on the results of the F test, simultaneously all independent variables affect the dependent variable. The results of the t-test analysis calculation show that the value for the broiler price variable (X1) is tcount<ttable (0.145<0.2732) and a significance value is 0.886>0.05, then H0 is accepted and H1 is rejected. The household income variable (X2) has a tcount>ttable (2.172<0.2732) and a significance value of 0.035<0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The variable number of family members (X3) has a value of tcount>ttable (-2.038>-0.2732) and a significance value of 0.047 <0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The taste variable (X4) has a tcount > ttable (8.827 > 0.2732) and a significance value of 0.001 <0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, so it can be concluded that the independent variables affect the demand for broiler chickens in households in Babatan Village as a whole partial except for the broiler price variable (X1) which has no effect on the demand for broiler chickens (Y). The suggestion of this research is that the demand for broiler chickens in households in Babatan Village is quite low so that the Surabaya City Government needs more attention to maintain the stability of rising broiler prices by considering the amount of production and the average selling price.
