Abstract

The use of bracing in building construction can improve structural performance, one of the solutions used to improve the performance of building structures is to withstand lateral forces caused by earthquakes by adding bracing to portal structural elements. In this study will use Eccentrically Braced Frame (EBF) and the excess EBF in the link beam which behaves as a fuse that can dissipate energy due to earthquakes, the performance of the link beam can be maximized if the elements outside of the link beam are planned to be stronger. This study analyzes an 8-storey steel structure office building by comparing EBF Inverted V and EBF Inverted Y to obtain the results of the structural behavior of the two bracing models with the help of ETABS V.19 software. then do the methodanalysis pushover to determine the level of performance in each structure when an earthquake occurs using the method FEMA 440. This study obtained results where structures using EBF Inverted V were more efficient than EBF Inverted Y and buildings without braces, where period results were obtained with a value of 1.147 for EBF Inverted V which was more efficient than EBF Inverted Y with a value of 1.218 and a value of 1.676 for buildings unbraced and the performance results from the pusover analysis using the FEMA 440 method for EBF Inverted V produce a level of performance Immediate Occupancy (IO) while the other models both EBF Inverted Y and Unbraced experienced a level of performance Life Safety (LS).
