Abstract

Calculating the corrosion rate is one of the methods used to determine the velocity of a material's corrosion rate so that it can predict when the material starts its corrosion rate, how long the material's life will be, and the evaluation and variation of environmental controls are known to protect the material from corrosion. The method of calculating the corrosion rate that is most widely used is the weight loss method. To find out the corrosion rate, it is necessary to have research on the selection of inhibitors for metal materials to be tested. Where the research is focused on the rate of corrosion that occurs by giving an inhibitor to each metal material to be tested. From the results of data analysis and calculations on the study of the influence of inhibitors and the corrosion rate and mechanical properties of the Strip Plate material with the same inhibition immersion time of 7 days. Then it can be concluded as follows: The corrosion behavior of the Strip Plate with seawater media and the same inhibitor immersion time has good corrosion resistance because it has an average degree of corrosion rate <5mmpy. a. The highest corrosion rate was found in seawater without using inhibitors and the second highest corrosion rate was found in Na2SO3 + 20% inhibitor b.
