Abstract
Metode pengelasan saat ini banyak digunakan di berbagai aspek dalam kehidupan manusia. Jenis elektroda dapat memengaruhi karakteristik hasil pengelasan. Elektroda yang digunakan adalah ER70S-6 dan E71T-1C sesuai dengan karakter baja SS400. Baja SS400 adalah jenis baja karbon rendah yang mempunyai kadar karbon dibawah 0,2. Pengelasan dilakukan pada posisi tertentu karena mengikuti rancangan konstruksi. Teknik pengelasan yang akan digunakan Horizontal, DownHand, dan Vertical. Pengelasan GMAW salah satu jenis proses pengelasan atau penyambungan logam yang menggunakan sumber panas dari energi listrik. Penelitian pengelasan dilakukan dengan variasi elektroda dan teknik pengelasan menggunakan proses pengelasaan GMAW. Kemudian dilakukan pengujian tarik untuk memperoleh data. Setelah pengujian tarik dan melalui data didapatkan pada elektroda ER70S-6 dan E71T-1C mendapat nilai rata-rata kekuatan tarik tertinggi pada posisi pengelasan Horizontal. Dari dua elektroda, elektroda ER70S-6 mendapat nilai kekuatan tarik tertinggi yaitu 65,456 kg/mm2.
