Abstract

The purpose of this study was conducted to determine the characteristics of people who consume cayenne pepper in the Nginden Jangkungan Village, Sukolilo and to measure the magnitude of the community's response to changes in the price of cayenne pepper in the Nginden Jangkungan Village, Sukolilo. The types and sources of data used in this study were primary data obtained from distributing questionnaires to household respondents in the Nginden Jangkungan Village and secondary data obtained from the Nginden Jangkungan Village. It can be concluded that the independent variable price of cayenne pepper, number of families, and income level jointly affect the dependent variable for household demand for cayenne pepper in Nginden Jangkungan Village, Sukolilo. The results obtained from the calculation of the price elasticity of cayenne pepper are 0.008, which means they are inelastic. The variables of this study include the price of cayenne pepper (X1), income level (X2), and number of families (X3) and demand for tempeh (Y). The sample in this study amounted to 98 respondents who were taken through a simple random sample using the Slovin formula. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression analysis with the help of the SPSS 22 program. Suggestions that can be concluded from the results of the regression calculations state that the price of cayenne pepper, income level, and number of families together have a significant effect on the demand for tempeh in the Nginden Jangkungan Village, Sukolilo, which requires cayenne pepper producers to increase their production capacity so that people's needs are met without significant price increases.
