Abstract

The world of communication technology is now growing faster from year to year which has an impact on the development of the internet. Currently internet users in the world reached 4,156,932,140 (4 billion) according to international states 2017. Applications that arise due to smartphones and the internet are online games. This Game is in great demand from various circles, ranging from children, adolescents, to adults. The existence of New media will certainly have an impact on its users. This study aims to determine whether the influence of Online games (variable X) on students ' communication ethics (variable Y). The research methodology uses quantitative research through the collection and measurement of data in the form of questionnaires. The theory used in this study is the theory of media dependence (Dependency Media Theory) where new media is now a very important requirement in everyday life. The results of this study though statistically with SPSS program 27. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the results of hypothesis testing obtained the value of thitung on playing online games is 11.211 and ttable with a magnitude of 1.66. So, thus the T > T table means that H0 rejected statistically is significant, from the T test results a significant value smaller than 0.1 (0.001 < 0.1) means that there is an influence of the era between playing online games on communication ethics. The results of the coefficient of determination test or R Square found that online games have an effect of 0.614 (61.4%) %, this proves that the effect of playing online games on students ' communication ethics is in accordance with the coefficient interval of 0.60 – 0.799 which is included in the category of strong relationship level.
