Abstract

This research is entitled "Description of Gender Discrimination in the Siren Novel by "Kiera Cass". This novel tells that women are still fighting for their rights and carrying out gender injustice that occurs and characterizations, liberal feminism and gender discrimination that occur in The Siren novel. This study uses a feminist approach because the issue raised in this study is gender discrimination. Through a feminist approach, it aims to solve problems related to aspects of the character's personality which are the focus research. The method used is descriptive because in research language is used to collect data and describe it fairly. The work step of this method is to analyze in detail. The reason this happened was because many years ago, Kahlen was saved by the ocean from the sinking of the ship he was traveling on. Since then, to repay his debt, he must become a siren, tasked with luring many people with his voice until the person dies with his voice, which lasts up to 100 years. In this way, several people were sacrificed so that the ocean could fulfill its need, namely to kill humans for its survival. The results that can be studied in this study are how women in the literature have many stereotypes and women are considered as weak humans. However described so but they can fight and act. So to reduce gender discrimination in the environment is expected to provide benefits for the readers.
