Abstract

Producers of cassava chips currently still use a simple cutting method, namely using manual cutting tools, which requires a lot of energy and a long time. One alternative to increasing efficiency and productivity is to make a semi-automatic cassava chopper.The main purpose of making a semi-automatic cassava chips cutter is to change the mechanism from manual to automatic to make it more efficient and easier to use. A side cover, a thin circular cutting knife, a thin circular cutting knife cover, a shaft cover, a pulley cover, a shaft, a V-belt, an electric motor, a drive pulley, a frame, a cutout output line, and a bearing are the components used to make this semi-automatic cassava chips cutter.With the above components, the semi-automatic chopper machine can cut cassava chips quickly and efficiently. The stages in the manufacture of this semi-automatic chip chopper that need analysis are:problem analysis and specifications, making working drawings, and testing tools. The results of the design of this semi-automatic cassava chips chopping machine are capable of producing 105 g/hour of chopped cassava using an electric motor with a power of 1.4 hp.
