Abstract

CV. Mulia Perkasa established since 1997 which is located in Bringkang Village, Menganti District, Gresik Regency is a company engaged in the field of furniture that produces various types of table products with various shapes such as jib side tables, jib coffee tables, hatch dining tables round, stern extension tables ranging from the smallest size to the largest size. The material used to make furniture products is from selected teak wood. But the quality control carried out so far at CV. Mulia Perkasa is still not optimal. Quality control activities by applying the concept of the DMAIC application approach. Define is to explain the types of defects and causes of defects that occur during the production process. Measure is measuring the level of product defects using a check sheet derived from the collection of the type and number of defective products obtained from the jib coffee table production documentation, histograms are used to see how many defects often occur so that calculations can be made using pareto diagrams to see the priority of control on the types of defects that often appear and using a control map to be able to see the control of defects that deviate or cross the limit. Analyze is to find the cause of the problem using a cause and effect diagram, the results of this stage are used as the basis for the next improve stage to analyze the problems that arise and suggest improvements using the five-m checklist. Improvement is fixing existing problems to improve quality using quality tools. Checks are carried out using several improvement suggestions, including (1) increasing supervision of labor, (2) applying the correct SOP, (3) increasing the frequency of machine inspections. After improvement using quality aids in October 2022 the number of defects decreased to 29% and in November 2022 to 27% of the total production of jib coffee table.
