Abstract

Many users of carburetor duck motorcycles do not have knowledge of the symptoms that can result in damage to carburetor duck motorcycles. this is supported by data from a 1-week survey from several workshops in padangan district which shows that as many as 265 out of a total of 441 people who carry out maintenance on the workshop are carburetor duck motorcycle users with a percentage reaching 60.2%. the problem for motorists who don’t know the type of damage, will be very fatal if the type of damage is not treated immediately. with the lack of workshop mechanics in the workshop and the large number of carburetor duck motorcycle users who want to do maintenance on the workshop, mechanics are somewhat overwhelmed in handling it quickly because they need to check first. so it is necessary to have an expert system to help identify the symptoms that can cause damage to the carburetor-system duck motorcycle quickly. this study applies the certainty factor (cf) method as an alternative system that is able to determine and provide solutions with accurate damage diagnosis results. With the expert system of diagnosing damage to the carburetor duck motorcycle with the certainty factor method, it can provide consultation services to users and workshop mechanics to find out the symptoms and damage that exist on the carburetor duck motorcycle and diagnose damage from these symptoms and then produce output in the form of type of damage to the carburetor duck motorcycle
