Abstract

Confidence and prosocial behavior, are important characteristics for early childhood, because at this age is the golden age (golden age), all aspects of child development experience rapid development, including self-confidence and prosocial behavior. The existence of self-confidence can be an indicator of how a child is able to understand his abilities and assess his self-esteem, while prosocial behavior is important in terms of affiliation and social relations. Learning activities in schools that teachers can do to foster self-confidence and improve prosocial behavior in students, one of which is through media storry telling. This study aims to find out whether the storytelling method can increase self-confidence and prosocial behavior in group B kindergarten students aged 5-6 years at At Tadzkiroh Sidoarjo kindergarten. This type of research is experimental, with pretest-posttest control group designs. The storytelling method is given for 5 (five) consecutive days in the experimental group. The results showed a significance value of confidence 0.000 <0.05, and a significance value of prosocial behavior 0.001 <005 means that there was a significant increase in self-confidence and prosocial behavior in the experimental group. Before treatment, subjects did not dare to express their opinions and did not care about the condition of friends. After treatment, subjects scramble to be able to express their opinions and are happy to help friends who are having difficulties. This shows that storytelling method is effective to increase self-confidence and prosocial behavior of children aged 5-6 years.
