Abstract

The spread of the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia has had a profound impact on the Indonesian economy. This has resulted in the government issuing policies that can reduce people's daily activities which will directly hamper the pace of the economy. The regulation related to Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), losses and decreased profits were experienced by several sectors, especially in the tourism and transportation sectors. The decline in public interest in traveling and doing outdoor activities has an impact on the decline in the use of transportation and hospitality services, it is possible that the business sector will not be able to survive again if efficiency is not carried out on the company. This results in a decrease in the income of workers/laborers who work for companies in the sector. It has been recorded that 1.7 million workers/laborers have been laid off while 749.4 thousand other workers/laborers have been laid off. The reason for the layoffs experienced by them was because the company reasoned that if it was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it had to be efficient. One of them is that there are workers/laborers who have been laid off even though their work contract has not ended. The COVID-19 pandemic is also not necessarily a forced condition for companies that are efficient by laying off their workers. Therefore, in this case, it is necessary to carry out an analysis related to legal protection for these workers/laborers as well as an analysis of whether COVID-19 is a coercive situation or not.
