Abstract
This study aims to determine the relationship between optimism and happiness and the relationship between optimism and gratitude in children who are victims of parental divorce. The hypothesis is that there is a positive relationship between optimism and happiness and a positive relationship between optimism and gratitude. The design of this study uses a quantitative, correlational research method. This research was on 104 participants aged 20-30 th who were victims of parental divorce. The instruments used in this study are the happiness scale to Seligman's theory (2005), the gratitude scale according to the of Watkins et al (2003) and Fitzgerald (1998), and the optimism scale according to Seligman's theory (2005). The data obtained were then analyzed using the Bivariate Correlation analysis technique with the help of SPSS 25 for Windows. Based on the results of the data analysis that has been done, the results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between optimism and happiness. The results of the second simple correlation test between optimism and gratitude also show is a positive and significant relationship between optimism and gratitude. The acceptance of the two hypotheses in this study shows that optimism is closely related to one's happiness and gratitude. The higher the optimism in children who are victims of divorce, the higher the happiness and gratitude for children who are victims of parental divorce, and vice versa, the lower the optimism, the lower the happiness and gratitude for children who are victims of parental divorce.
