Abstract

Flood is an event where the canal cannot accommodate the discharge of water, resulting in inundation. This often happens in the residential area of Simorejo, Kel. Simomulyo, Kec. Sukamanunggal, Surabaya City. This study aims to find the planned flood discharge, the existing flood discharge and the size of the channel re-planning using rainfall data for the last 10th years from 2012 to 2022. Calculations used in finding the maximum rainfall using the arithmetic method. In hydrological calculations, a comparison is made between the Gumbel method, the Normal method and the Log Pearson Type III method which will be corrected by the Chi-Square method and the Smirnov-Kolmogorov method. Next, the calculation of the flow coefficient by finding the slope of the channel is followed by calculating the rain intensity using the Mononobe formula. The design discharge here is used as a reference for the channel tamping capacity using the rational method. Once the planned discharge is known, namely the calculation of the existing channel discharge using the rational method, in this case it is shown that the condition of the channel is problematic and unable to accommodate maximum rainfall in the return period of 2 years, 5 years and 10 years. In this case, a re-planning of the channel dimensions was carried out using the trial and error method until it was declared capable of accommodating the maximum rain discharge (flood). Based on the data analysis carried out, it was concluded that the channel capacity of Tertiary 1 = 0.8 m3 /second, Tertiary 2 = 0.19 m3 /second, Tertiary 3 = 0.23 m3 /second, Tertiary 4 = 0.14 m3 /second , Secondary 2 = 0.24 m3 /second. The mean discharge for the planned return period is 2 years = 0.0921 m3 /second, 5 years = 0.1109 m3 /second, 10 years = 0.1234 m3 /second.
