Abstract
Research on the analysis of steel profile strength using the hardening method was carried out using L steel profile specimens. The specimens were heated using the hardening method using a temperature of 800°C with variations in holding times of 15 minutes, 18 minutes, and 20 minutes. Also using a variety of cooling media using water, oil and air. After the heat treatment is carried out, the test object will be tested using hardnes testing. And tested the microstructure. ss of the specimen. Hardness increases after the hardening heating process is carried out. Where the lowest value of hardness is found in untreated specimens. And the highest value is found in the specimen after being given treatment. From the hardness test, it can be concluded that the longer the heating, the harder the specimen is. Because cooling and holding time also affect the hardness value of a specimen. From the results of the microstructure that has been observed using a microscope, the specimens have different structures, depending on the heating temperature and with different variations of cooling and holding time.
