Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see the relationship between self-concept and social support with feelings of inferiority in adolescents living in orphanages in Surabaya. The method used in this research is quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The subjects in this study were 71 teenagers who lived in an orphanage. Data analysis was performed with the help of the Statistical Package for Social Science for Windows (SPSS) version 26.0 program. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be seen that there is a relationship between selfconcept and social support with feelings of inferiority in adolescents living in orphanages, with a value of F = 16,511, p = 0.000 (P <0.001). Thus it can be seen that there is a significant influence between self-concept and social support together on feelings of inferiority. In addition, it can also be seen that there is a negative relationship between self-concept and feelings of inferiority in adolescents living in orphanages with a value of t = -3.656, p = 0.000 (p <0.005), meaning that the higher the self-concept, the lower the feeling of inferiority. Likewise, it can also be seen that there is a negative relationship between social support and feelings of inferiority in adolescents who live in orphanages with a value of t = -2.098, p = 0.040 (p <0.005), meaning that a high increase in social support means feelings of inferiority in existing adolescents. at the orphanage.
