Abstract

Komposit merupakan material yang dapat menggantikan logam dalam penggunaan material yang relatif ringan. Material komposit memiliki beberapa keunggulan dibandingkan material lain seperti logam. Penggunaan material komposit polipropilena berpenguat abu dasar batubara menjadi salah satu pilihan utama dalam pengaplikasian di bidang teknik. Selain harganya yang terjangkau dan ramah lingkungan juga dapat diperoleh dengan mudah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengetahui pengaruh penambahan komposisi abu dasar batubara (bottom ash) terhadap sifat mekanik matriks polimer (polypropylene). Dengan ukuran partikel yang digunakan adalah 250-300 mesh, perlakuan yang sama dicuci menggunakan air bersih dan air hangat.dengan.suhu.80°C selama 2 jam dan di keringkan dengan suhu 110°C. Untuk presentase abu dasar batubara sebanyak 10% (70 gram) dan polypropilen 90% (630 gram). Metode yang digunakan dalam pembuatan komposit, polypropylene dilelehkan dalam mesin pengaduk (mixer) dengan variasi yang digunakan lama pengadukan 5, 10, 15, dan 20 menit dengan kecepatan 15, 20, 25, 30, dan 35 rpm. Dari hasil penelitian dengan pengujian tarik dan pengujian impak didapatkan nilai rata-rata tertinggi pada variasi kecepatan 25 rpm dan lama pengadukan 20 menit dengan nilai 18,09 Mpa, Dan nilai rata-rata terendah pada variasi kecepatan 25 rpm dan pengadukan 10 menit dengan hasil 5,76 MPa. Sedangkan untuk nilai rata-rata impak tertinggi pada variasi kecepatan 30 rpm dan lama pengadukan 10 menit sebesar 0,61 J/mm² dan harga impak terendah dengan variasi kecepatan 20 rpm dan lama pengadukan 5 menit sebesar 0,47 J/mm². Semakin tinggi kecepatan dan lama pengadukan semakin kuat suatu material, karena ikatan yang baik antar partikel dan matriks.
