Abstract

Depression is a condition of disturbance of human feelings which is characterized by various types of symptoms depending on the type of depression suffered. There are 2 types of depression, namely psychogenic depression, which is a type of depression whose symptoms affect a person's mood or mood, and somatogenic depression, which is depression whose symptoms affect a person's physical condition This study aims to develop an android application that is able to detect symptoms of depression by self-assessment. The measurement instrument used is based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition (DSM-V). The detection results will show the level of depression that is between mild depression, moderate depression, and severe depression based on the calculation of certainty factor. The results of application testing conducted by 20 respondents stated that 16 people suffered from psychogenic detection and 4 people suffered from somatogenic depression. The results of the usability test of the application obtained a score of 86 which stated that the application was feasible to use. Keyword: Depression, Certainty Factor, Forward Chaining
