Abstract

Seiring dengan perkembangan dunia otomotif, sistem pengapian memiliki peranan yang penting dalam proses pembakaran dalam ruang bakar, salah satunya yaitu busi yang fungsinya memercikkan bunga api, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian experimen, untuk mengetahui karakteristik performa mesin yaitu torsi, daya, konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik, tekanan efektif rata-rata dan efisiensi thermal, pada motor mesin 110 cc 4 langkah 1 silinder menggunakan bahan bakar dengan nilai oktan 90, 92 dan 98, dengan memakai busi standart, platinum, dan iridium, pengujian pertama yaitu menguji karakter bahan bakar , setelah itu melakukan pengujian performa mesin, dengan variasi putaran mesin 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000, 8000, 9000 rpm, dari hasil penelitian ini akan menghasilkan performa mesin yaitu torsi, daya, konsumsi bahan bakar spesifik, tekanan efektif rata-rata dan efisiensi thermal yang optimal pada putaran mesin 6000 - 7000 rpm karena adanya busi iridium yang mempunyai karakter lebih baik untuk memercikan bunga api.
