Abstract

In this study with the title of the effect of turning the ST41 material turning machine with various cooling media on surface roughness aims to determine the effect of the turning machine turning ST41 material with various cooling media on surface roughness. Turning is done by turning 280, 350 and 760 Rpm with coolant droumus, water and diesel media. The results of this study can be concluded that the lowest roughness value obtained from the turning of the material using 760 RPM engine rotation with water cooling media produces an average value of 2.39 µm. For the highest roughness value, obtained from turning coolant droumus cooling media and 280 RPM which obtained a value of 3.10 µm. From these results it is said that the engine speed is very influential to the value of roughness. KEYWORD: Depth Of Feed, Surface Roughness, Cooling Media, Lathe
