Abstract

PT. Securiko Indonesia is a distributor company established in 2006. The company is located at Jl.Gembong 32 K, Kapasan Simokerto - Surabaya, where the company serves the official sale of security system tools. In the process of operation, the warehouse is one of the most important part, where the warehouse is used as a storage of goods purchased from suppliers or factories and will be sent to various customers according to sales orders. Problems that occur is the inappropriate warehouse layout, where the location of the warehouse is on the fourth floor. So this resulted in various obstacles, especially the matter of material handling movement, the distance of material handling movements that are too far result in material handling process of goods in and out takes a long time, employee fatigue increases and work productivity decreases. From the problems that arise, the effort to solve this problem is to do a good layout design using Activity Relationship Chart (ARC) and product storage based on Class Based Storage Policy. This study aims to improve the layout, so the distance of material handling move is smaller than before. Where the smaller the moving material handling distance will be the lesser the material handling cost (OMH). The results show that redesign of proposed layout can shorten the distance of material handling movement, where in the initial layout the maximum distance of material handling movement is 48 meter, and total material handling cost is Rp 3,424,608 per month. While the layout of the proposed result is much better, where the maximum distance of material handling movement is 29 meters, and the total material handling cost is Rp 1.321.452. Thus the cost of material handling decreased by 61,4 %.
