Abstract

Alternative media was created because of the form of resistance that was carried out by some people against the mainstream media which was deemed not to be in favor of the interests of the people. In this case, regarding the form of the role and contribution of alternative mass media to the sociocultural construction of society, one of which is the discourse on women or feminism. Feminism is currently still an unresolved problem or issue in society, until in the end alternative media has become a place for feminist activists to speak up. In this study, the researcher uses Feminism Theory and Reception Theory, which in reception theory explains that reception analysis is used to understand the role of active audiences in interpreting, analyzing and evaluating the message conveyed, while feminism theory explains that feminism is a movement that demands full equality between women and men. The data was obtained by analyzing feminism in the alternative media by taking several news stories that contain meanings and indicators of feminism. In this study, the researcher obtained the meaning of the message content and the point of view of the followers of the @viceind Instagram account who were the sources of this research.The interpretation of feminism by followers of the @vinceind account is very diverse.Acceptance, rejection and neutrality about the published news become very diverse, and culture is one of the determining factors.
